Who:

Inger Houghton

Age:

27

Occupation:

Nutritionist & Personal Trainer at Scandinavian Health & Performance

Tell me more:

When I moved to Dubai in 2011 I said that 2 thing were missing in this wonderful place: The Cheesecake Factory and Whole Foods Market. I think it would have been better for my waistline if Whole Foods Market came first ;)

What are your top training tips and why:

Use basic movements that use whole muscle groups such as deadlifts, squats, lunges and vertical and horizontal push and pull. Do not be afraid to add some weight, but not at the expense of technique and safety. Choose interval training instead of time consuming cardio, and your time schedule, joints and hormonal status will thank you!

What are your favourtie healthy food/s and why?

Asking me about my favorite food is like asking my husband which car he likes best - it's hard to choose only one! I love hamburgers, cookies and cheesecake, but luckily I like eggs, carrots and avocado as well. I eat everything, but not everyday.

Words of wisdom for those looking to to make healthy lifestyle changes:

Don't expect to go from 0 to 100 in one step. A lifestyle change is a comprehensive task and setbacks are a part of life. Don't beat yourself up over a few missed workouts or a couple of extra chocolate bars. It is not what you do once in a while, it is what you do everyday that matters.
